Over the past nearly 2 years, I’ve rediscovered myself through photography and writing. My work explores themes of existentialism, introspection, perception, and more- each focused on the human experience. Often, I feel like my soul is occupying my body, and they both feel separate, existing as connected entities. Through high contrast, re-imagined portraiture, I aim to mystify the viewer through twinkling highlights and unique color interactions that step away from verism and scratch the surface of abstraction. The human figure acts as point of reference for the viewer to step into in order to then step into the writing, which are abridged versions of my thoughts. Through sequencing, my bodies of work represent my thoughts and journey through exploring my own definitions of what it means to be human. Whether its exploring themes of pain, desire, hope, or faith, my work acts as a starting point for the viewer to ask themself, “Why?”
